Indicative Season Costs (2022)
Indicative rowing costs for the season are provided in the table below. These costs include all club, coaching and uniform fees for the season. They also cover the Learn To Row programme, participation at two major camps, at least three away regattas as well as local regattas and other mini camps. OCRC does not aim to make a profit from each season, but rather run the season simply as cost recovery.
Rowing costs are paid throughout the duration of the season, not as a bulk upfront payment. Regatta, camp and training costs will be requested prior to the scheduled event. If a regatta is cancelled due to poor weather then there is no payment for that regatta. (Wellington regattas are occasionally cancelled.)
Each rower has an account within the main Onslow Rowing Account. Where the rower does fund raising that can be attributed directly to him/her, this is credited to their rowing account to be used to reduce the amount of regatta or camp costs to be paid.
Some rowing families contribute a regular small amount over the season in order to build up credit prior to each event instead of paying a bulk cost at the time of the event. Talk to the OCRC Treasurer if you would like to discuss payment options.
Maadi Cup Regatta - Only selected crews attend the Maadi Cup regatta due to the extended time away and the extra expense. It is held alternatively at Lake Karapiro or Lake Ruataniwha. Criteria for the Maadi Cup when held in the South Island at Lake Ruataniwha, is set to a higher standard than when held in the North Island because of the extra expense of travelling to Twizel. See the Maadi selection process for full details.
